Thoth 0.2.5: download a page as Markdown

Thoth 0.2.5 lets you save any page as a Markdown file, from your Private Space or from a workspace. It works on the desktop and on the web.

Download as Markdown

Open a page and click the Download button in its header, next to the star. Or right-click a page in the sidebar and choose Download as Markdown…. Folders have no such item: download the pages in them one by one.

The file is named after the page.

Where it goes

On the desktop, your system's Save dialog opens, and the file is written only where you pick. On the web, your browser downloads it the way it downloads any file.

Edits you just made are saved first, so the file has your latest text.

The file holds the page's text in Markdown. Pictures stay links in it; they are not packed into the file.

Workspaces that keep their pages in

A workspace can be set so its pages are not copied out. In such a workspace there is no Download button and no menu item. The same pages can still be read, as before.

How to get it

From 0.2.3, click Update when the app tells you 0.2.5 is out. From 0.2.2 or older, install it from the download section. The web app has it already. The changelog lists every change.

Questions

Can I download a whole folder?

Not yet. 0.2.5 downloads one page at a time.

Why does my Private Space need this, when its pages are already .md files?

They are, in the folder you chose. Download makes a copy somewhere else in one step, without opening that folder.
