Thoth for teams, on your own server

Run the Thoth server on a machine you control. Your team's shared pages and files stay on your own server. The server is free and open source, with no limit on members.

Free set-up help by message, for the first 5 teams

We'll help the first 5 teams set up their own Thoth server, free, by message (no video calls): choosing a setup, domain and HTTPS, sign-in, backups, and moving your notes in. The first reply comes within 1 working day.

Start a set-up request in GitHub Discussions (you'll need a GitHub account), so the answers help the next team too. Or, to keep it private, message us on LINE or email us. English or Thai are both fine.

Never send passwords, keys, your server.env file or full logs, in Discussions, on LINE or by email. Replace secrets with *** first.

What your team gets

  • Shared workspaces with owners, editors and viewers, and invite links.
  • Sign-in with Google, GitHub or your own OpenID Connect provider, such as Keycloak, Authentik or Entra ID.
  • No lost work: when two people change the same page, Thoth shows both versions and you choose, or keep both.
  • A Private Space for each person: a folder of Markdown files on their own computer, separate from the team's.
  • The whole app in Thai and English.
  • A server you can read and change: Node.js and PostgreSQL in a container, under the Apache-2.0 licence.

What Thoth doesn't have yet

  • No mobile app. Thoth runs on macOS, Windows and Linux, and in a browser.
  • No databases, tables or kanban boards. Pages are documents.
  • No live co-editing. Two people can work on the same page, but changes meet when they save, not as they type.
  • The web app on thothnotes.com opens the demo server only. For your own server, you build and host the web app yourself.
  • The installers aren't code-signed yet, so Windows and macOS ask once before the first launch.

Self-hosting, compared

What it costs to run each one for a team on your own server, from each product's own page on 1 November 2026. Several of them do things Thoth doesn't, such as mobile apps and databases.
